Revamping your guest bedroom?
Find the 8 must-have things to complete your guest bedroom.
When having friends or family over to the home, it can feel intimidating at first, but often it’s mainly because we were unprepared to have them share our space. Hosting guests do not necessarily mean that we have to provide them a hotel-quality stay, however, it can or sho=uld even be more than a bed and a bed side table in the corner of a room. We will share how you can transform your spare bedroom with these simple, inexpensive tips and must-haves for creating a guest-ready bedroom. With a little bit of effort and few updates, these tips will be so easy to do!
- Amenities and Supplies
Upon the arrival of your guests, make sure to clean, organize and create a nook that feels uniquely designed for the guests. This does not mean that you need to purchase a bunch of new items, you can simply do so by preparing a tray of amenities, such as the tooth brush, tooth paste, soap, or even a candle that can be placed on the bed or on the bathroom counter! And don’t forget to provide your guests with a jug of water and glass for drinking.
2. Wardrobe or a storage solution
As your guests unpack, it’s important to create a space to fit their luggage and a storage space to fit their items. A closet and a drawer space is a must, but have you thought of those over-the-door storage and extra hooks?
3. Bedding Set
Bedding set has got to be the most important aspect of a guest-ready bedroom! After a long day of traveling, your guest simply deserves a good rest with a room that is comfortable, cosy and welcoming. Consider the additional pieces your guests will need, e.g. extra pillows, bolsters, to blankets, or even the lighter or more stiff cotton sheets? Regardless of their personal preference, it’s always a good idea to consider all options by offering multiple bedding layers.
4. Plush Towels
Provide your guests with towels that are absorbent, warm, and soft! Bring the hotel experience to your guests by setting out clean, soft towels for their use and your guests will be thankful. Additionally, you can also opt for white towels and provide a bath robe and slippers to use.
5. Vanity table
Let’s face it, we all want to look good when we’re on a vacation! To create the perfect space for your guests, add a vanity table and chair so that your guests can get dressed comfortably and confidently.
6. Bench
Benches work wonderfully not just for additional seating, but also for a space for your guests to pack and unpack! You can easily place your bench by the foot of the bed or simply by an empty wall to make a room feel less empty.
7. Instructions list
This can easily be your “how-tos” for any complicated technology or equipment in the guest room, e.g. WiFi information. Having the list will help your guests find what they need without feeling like they’re bugging you and to give you and your guest more privacy.
8. A “care-package” basket
This is absolutely additional! But, wouldn’t it be nice for you to enter as a guest to your family or friend’s home to receive a basket filled with the things you can help yourself with? This basket can also be filled with your amenities or towels, added with some snacks and refreshments. You can curate this based on your guests’ preferences and easily write a note with “help yourself”!
